The world would not disintegrate,
If I should not awake today,
But it's harder now without my mate,
And I'd like to make it go away.
I'm not such a fool I do not know
God's scheme for human beings,
That one must go, and one must stay,
And that's the way it is, it seems.
I prayed, of course, God take me first,
Though I know that was a selfish plea,
So now I ask God give me strength,
Since He took my love instead of me.
I can't imagine living on,
Without my own, sweet love,
But, if I must, in God I'll trust,
As He helps me from above.
I know He understands my loss,
And He understands my pain,
I pray He'll keep my loved one safe,
Till we're together once again.
Eternity's a wondrous thing,
Without it, there's no hope,
Thank you, God, for Your marvelous gift,
Which allows us both to cope.
