I saw a leaf drift slowly down
One quiet Autumn day.
I smiled as thoughts returned of you.
Your gentle, graceful way......
The leaf I saw was gilded,
With a brilliant golden hue.
Its beauty quickly brought to mind,
Sweet memories of you.
One night I saw a shooting star,
Streak 'cross the starlight sky.
It filled my heart with pure delight,
But quickly passed me by.
It made me think of love we shared,
That vanished all to soon..
It shed its light and crossed the sky,
As the ever wandering moon.
A tree, no longer clothed in green,
Stands brittle, bleak and bare...
Deprived the Summer sun's caress,
As a love no longer there...
A broken limb lies silent now
Beneath the barren tree.
Since time cannot erase its loss,
The void shall always be.
Perhaps the snow shall cover it,
And clouds may hide the sun.
But soon another Spring will come;
Rebirth has now begun.
