The past is far behind me now,
Reflections haunting me.
It's your face I always see,
The way it used to be.

Little did I know these years,
Would start a glow again.
So many days have gone and now,
I have to call you friend.

In my heart I feel a beat,
That skips so endlessly.
For just one moment that hello,
Brings haunting memories.

Within the recess of my soul,
I've kept the burning bright.
Never did I realize this,
Until the dawn's new light.

I know now that I love you still,
I guess I always will.
The joy that I will always feel,
For past love's tender thrill.

Just a thought confuses me,
Of what then could have been.
Yet I know within my heart,
This message I can't send.

So here I sit within my past,
And listen to my heart.
Thumping to a symphony,
That never played it's part.

Although I know this foolish heart,
Is sad it cannot tell.
But then it gives me greatest peace,
For dreams of past may dwell.
