"Forever One"

Our Senior folks, in all this land, are such a joy to know,
They bless our hearts with love so sweet, and daily, help us grow!

I smile, as one may softly speak of times they ‘oft-recall,
Maybe ‘bout the “Old Home Place,” or an early frost, one "Fall".

So often quiet words they share, and a mist comes o’er their eyes,
As they remember "friends and kin," down in the creek, baptized.

They speak with so much love and pride, that only they could know,
Because, you see, they built this land that we so proudly show.

For foundations they have given us, thru their love, their work, their prayer?
Or, do we simply pass these folks without a word or care?
Have we forgotten "Who" they are, and what they’ve had to bear?

Yes, some are in a “Special Home,” but we need not despair,
For they've joined those, who've gone ahead, that were waiting for them there!

I’m grateful, yes, for all our folks--the young, the big, the small,
But for our "Senior Citizens", I’m thankful, most of all.
