The Strongest Link

My Dear Husband went Home to be with The Lord on July 5, 2002.
How I do miss him. He was such a loving Husband, Father, Grandfather and so much more.

My husband, George, has always been a romantic. When we were young newlyweds, we lived on a very meager income. (Funny, as we get older we seem to do that again!)

George was in the USAF, and our lives were filled with wonderful, small things that to most would seem boring. Our first tour of duty, as a married couple, was to Biloxi, MS. We fished, and we walked on the beach (both free). We had so little money that we lived on tomato soup and macaroni from the A&P (ten cents each)! Oh, I still love both. *Smiles*

George would very often find a flower, probably from the roadside, and bring it home to me. Just being together has always been pure delight. That will never change!

We were blessed 10 months after marriage with a beautiful baby boy, George Jr. (Georgie). Four years later, we once more received a blessing, and our sweet little "Bubba" was born.*Smiles*

As years passed, we were the Inseparable Four. I didn't need baby sitters and was fortunate to be able to be home when the boys came home from school. We were very involved with every aspect of their lives: School, Little League, Scouts, etc. We were truly “The Inseparable Four.”

The years passed too quickly, of course, and how we missed those many, many kids playing basketball in the back yard and the wonderful activities we always shared. However, when Georgie married a dear and precious young lady named Kim, they chose to live next door. We continued to enjoy the wonderful life of a very close family. "Bubba" decided he also wanted to get married. Hmmmmmmmm. Only 19 years old, but we agreed, and he and his wife gave us our dear and adorable first grandchild, Christopher. Christopher was, and is still, so loving and caring. He is a blessing for which we never forget to thank God.

Six years after Kim and Georgie were married, they gave us the most beautiful granddaughter in the world. Our precious, Brittni. *Smiles* Brittni lived next door, and even though Christopher was now two hours away (due to "Bubba's” transfer), we saw him nearly every day.

Oh, what fun when he began Little League. We were once again involved. T-Ball came first and was so much fun! We would drive two hours to his game and drive back later that night. Many times (if he wasn't in school) he went home with us, and we had both of our precious grandchildren with us. Aren't grandchildren glorious?

We saw Brittni every day. She is, and has always been, the dearest and sweetest child on earth. Her dear daddy, Georgie, went home to be with Our Lord the day after we celebrated her first birthday. An excruciatingly difficult time for our family!

Christopher and Brittni's love for Grandpa and Grandma is unconditional, and it fills George and me so much that words fail me. Nine years ago, we were blessed once more with another precious grandson, Patrick. He is nearby and is as loved and precious as Christopher and Brittni are. Patrick's other Grandmother sees him a great deal as he is her first and only grandchild to date. Patrick is such a loving and sweet guy!

Life has truly been wonderful to us, and even though we have had many mountains to climb, George has always been our Guide and Leader. He has never faltered and continues to display the same "Let’s go and get it done" attitude even now, during his recuperative time from surgery, as well as before he left this earthly home. He never once complained. *smiles*

My Dear Husband: You Will "Always" be "The Strongest Link"!!

          All My Love,

          Samantha
