| Between Mother and Other
I visited our spot today,
Where often I would watch you play.
I heard the pounding waves hit sand,
And once again yearned for your hand.
Oh yes, the surfers, they're still there,
As once you were...without a care.
The sun, so bright it blinded me,
And oddly, I thought I did see
you riding on that super wave.
How proud I was, you were so brave.
Surfing silhouettes haunt my heart.
I never thought, so soon, we'd part.
My life can never be the same.
But in our hearts you will remain.
The waves, so gently, now subside,
As tho to say, no one may "ride."
Graceful seagulls sing their cry,
Their wings "salute"...A fond good-bye.
My tears of sadness loss and pain,
Are now to be the Heavens gain.
Perhaps you now surf different seas.
And I?...I savor memories
Of laughter, love and waves so grand.
A Mother, a Son .... and grains of sand.
